SEO, AEO, GEO: what your business actually needs

A practical guide to search optimization, answer readiness, and visibility in generative AI.

Three lenses on the same business

A customer might search for a service, ask a specific question, or describe a problem to an AI assistant. The starting point changes, but your job stays consistent: explain what you do, who it helps, and why it is credible.

SEO, AEO, and GEO are useful ways to organize that work. They overlap. Treating each one as an unrelated campaign can leave you repeating the same fixes.

SEO: make the foundations work

Search engine optimization starts with pages that can be found, crawled, and understood. Clear titles, useful content, sensible links, and an accessible experience support that foundation. A page that cannot be reached is a poor starting point for any discovery strategy.

AEO: answer a real question

Answer engine optimization focuses attention on the answer itself. Put the useful explanation near the question. Use descriptive headings, precise language, and business details that agree across your pages. Add structured data when it accurately describes visible content.

GEO: give your business useful context

Generative engine optimization considers how your business may appear in generated answers. Our approach is to improve the clarity of your offer, publish evidence for your claims, and make expertise easier to verify. This is a working discipline, not a way to control an assistant's output.

Start with one customer journey

Choose a service you want to grow and a question a potential customer actually asks. Review the page that should answer it. Can someone understand your offer, check its evidence, and take a clear next step?

Google says its established SEO guidance also applies to its AI search features. There is no special AI schema required. Fix the fundamentals before chasing a new acronym.
